Does the CHES pathway require active certification or just eligibility?
Short answer
The rule doesn't say. It names NCHEC "eligibility for Certified Health Education Specialists" without stating whether active certification or eligibility satisfies the requirement. We track this as an open question.
Until CMS, NCHEC or your MAC clarifies, the conservative approach is to keep active certification and proof of coaching-specific training on file. Check the Sources & updates page for changes.
